Denise DeMarchis was a clothing designer and founder of Matilda Jane Clothing.
She has been working previously as a decorative artist and although he is a mother of two boys, she decided to focus on designing clothes for little girls.
People close to her family are sharing that if she would have had a little girl, she would have named her Matilda Jane. This is where the idea of Matilda Jane company came from, and this company truly was her baby.
Her colleagues and everyone who knew her are describing Denise to be a very kind person, with a good and so much caring soul.
Besides making our world better every day by trying to bring smiles on every person’s face whom she had to deal with throughout the day, Denise was conducting some commendable charity activities.

Initially, Matilda Jane started by producing dresses for little girls. Further on, it has enlarged its products line to girls, tweens, and adults sizes.

Matilda Jane products might seem too pricey for families with limited finances which narrows down your niche not into your favor.
How Much Does it Cost to Join Matilda Jane?
In order to become Matilda Jane’s Independent distributor, or how they specifically call them “Trunk Keepers”, there is a single starting cost of $1600.
This includes an inventory assortment of Girls’ clothing and accessories, promotional items and marketing materials, rack, and hangers.
Besides that, in order to become a Trunk Keeper, there is also a non-refundable deposit of $300 that you’ll have to pay by credit card.

How to Make Money With Matilda Jane?
In order to start making money with Matilda Jane, you’ll need to host Trunk events or shows that will show off your wears.
You will have to have a person that is called “Jane”, who will serve as a hostess at your event.
Jane could also be you, and as a Jane, you would earn either a discount or free products depending on the number of sales from the show.
Unfortunately, the discounts aren’t that great. In order to get a 50% discount off one item, your show needs to produce at least $300 in sales.
Trunk Keepers earn 20% commissions for any products they sell. Imagine that you would need to sell a bunch of clothes to make any DECENT amount of money.
If you manage to bring other people into the business, who would be interested to do the same things as you do, you then could earn a percentage of their sales.
Do They Allow You to Use the Internet to Build Your Business?
If you are looking for a way to make money exclusively online, Matilda Jane is not the right place to start because you are going to be working mostly in person, through in-home Trunk Shows.
More than that, it’s very clearly stated in Matilda Jane Clothing Trunk Keeper Policies and Procedures document that you are not allowed to advertise through the internet. This includes your personal website, email, or even Facebook.
Is Matilda Jane Legitimate?
Matilda Jane isn’t accredited with BBB (Better Business Bureau), which is an entity that focuses on advancing marketplace trust.

Say you haven’t met their monthly sales requirements, you then can very quickly lose your status, eligibility to earn commissions, and even your downline.
All your efforts will be in vain in this case. Remember that you are only making commissions from sales and there are no hourly rates attached. If you are not making sales, it means that you are not earning at all.

While this may sound great, the fact that Matilda Jane is available for sale (against their Policies and Procedures) on such online shopping platforms like Amazon, and eBay, don’t add any exclusiveness on the products that you will be trying to sell.
#2. You Don’t Have to Carry Inventory
You are going to have the samples on your rack which you can sell through a Trunk at-home show, little pop-up events, styling appointments, little many fashion shows, getting in front of the people, etc. – that is how you are going to sell Matilda Jane clothes.
#3. Try it Before Joining
Before paying for officially becoming Matilda Jane Independent Distributor, you can host a trunk show first to decide if you like what you are going to be doing every day as Matilda Jane Trunk Keeper.

There are almost $2000 you’ll need to spend first before you can even make any money with Matilda Jane.

These expenses are not all. Even after your agreement with Matilda Jane was terminated, you can still be billed for commission refunds from customer returns or product exchanges.
My Final Opinion About Matilda Jane + A Better Alternative
Matilda Jane claims that you will be an entrepreneur building your own business on your terms.
But with all the restrictions and requirements I have described above, does this sound feasible? I am very doubtful.
If you fail to meet any of their requirements or limitations, your agreement will be terminated and you will lose your investment and even your downline.
