What is Peekabo Beans? Peekaboo Beans Review - Previous Logo

With its main headquarters in Richmond, Canada, Peekaboo Beans started as a multi-level marketing company that produces and sells high-quality and long-lasting children’s clothing.

They have lines for boys and girls up to 10 years, as well as babies.

In 2018, the company announced listing on the Canadian Securities Exchange, under the trading symbol “BEAN”.

Although they accept both men and women to become part of their sales network, their primary focus is on educating women to become entrepreneurs.

In 2017, they had over 1,200 “Stylists” across Canada, British Columbia comprising 75% of sales.

In recent years, they have been taking steps to expand to the USA too.

Who is the Founder?Peekaboo Beans Review - The Founder

Traci Costa is the Founder and CEO of the Peekaboo Beans company.

Being a mom herself, Traci founded Peekaboo Beans company as a better solution for children’s wear.

She wanted more comfortable clothes for kids so that they can enjoy the playtime to the fullest.

In this modern world of technology, we all live, our kids, unfortunately, tend to spend too much time in fronts of devices like smartphones, tablets, or laptops.

If you want to get to know Traci better, watch this video interview with her where she is talking about the company’s mission and vision:

What is the Peekaboo Beans Financial Situation?

So, Peekaboo Beans is a relatively new MLM that already have seen some growth.

As you can see from the screenshot below, they have been growing consistently throughout 2016-2018.

Then, in 2019, they have registered the same revenue as in 2018.

But, the most recent news is that they have managed to increase sales in the first quarter of 2020, by 21% over the same period last year.

Overall, it’s not bad at all for a young MLM like Peekaboo Beans is.

There are some other MLM companies that are even registering negative financial indicators, like in the case of Zija International MLM.

What Are Peekaboo Beans Products?

Peekaboo Beans products include everything you can think of dressing your kid, regardless it’s boy or girl: pajamas, underwear and undershirts, leggings and pants, dresses and tunics, tees and tanks, rompers and jumpers, shorts and skirts, pullovers and hoodies, jackets and coats, and all sorts of accessories.

Here’s how Peekaboo dresses look like:

And some tees and tanks for boys:

If you have a toddler, be sure that you can find plenty of clothes for your little one too:

Are Peekaboo Products Worth Their Price?

Peekaboo Beans is building a concept of “grow with me piece” clothing. This means that, when it comes to girls’ wear, for example, a dress is first a dress, then tunic, then top.

The same way, pants turn into shorts, and some leggings are ruched to last.

This lets clothes be more long-lasting, a child being able to wear it more years than other clothes. On the other hand, parents got the possibility to save more money on childrenswear.

That same concept could be found at Matilda Jane Clothing.

Peekaboo Beans Review - High-quality ChildrenWear

As it’s a boutique type of children’s wear, Peekaboo Beans products might seem expensive, the prices ranging from $10 to $160.

One of the specialties of Peekaboo Beans’ clothing is that they make their clothing without strings, buttons, snaps, uncomfortable tags, etc. that are downright uncomfortable and annoying for kids to deal with.

The fabric used for the line is free from heavy metals and chemicals making them safe for even the most sensitive skin.

From all of the reviews, I have read on the internet, people are quite satisfied with the quality of Peekaboo Beans products.

The products can also be found on Amazon too.

How Much Does it Cost to Join Peekaboo Beans?

So, Peekaboo Beans products are sold exclusively through its direct-sales network of Stylists or independent sales representatives.

The way you start at Peekaboo Beans is what they call it ” by buying a business in a box”. Basically, what does that mean is you need to purchase a starter kit.

There are several kits you can choose from, and the price starts at $49, $199, $299, and even $499.

How to Make Money With Peekaboo Beans?

Peekaboo Beans is an MLM so, traditionally, there are two ways to make money here.

#1. Retails Commissions

As a Peekabo independent business representative, or how they also call it Play Stylist, you earn 15%-35% commission on retail sales you make.

You are going to need to host events (parties, known as “soirees”) in your home or elsewhere you’ll invite people and make product demonstrations with the purpose of making sales.

Peekaboo Beans Review - Host a Soiree

For hosting, you’ll receive free products and discounts.

However, in order to be able to receive those, your soiree should generate a minimum of 3 separate sales.

#2. Earn Commissions by Building Your Team

If you start inviting people to join this Peekaboo Beans business opportunity, it means that you are going to be building your own team or organization within Peekaboo Beans.

You are then eligible to earn commissions from their sales, as well as bonuses and rewards for enrolling them and helping them to grow their Peekaboo Beans business.

Does Peekaboo Beans Allow You to Use the Internet to Build Your Business?

I guess it does more than any other MLM company nowadays.

Once you join Peekaboo Beans, they’ll offer you your own personalized replicated Peekaboo Beans website.

This will let you attract more customers through the internet, and eventually, drive more sales.

While this is a great thing in essence, please bear in mind that visually, your replicated website will look just the same as replicated websites of many other Peekaboo Beans independent sales representatives.

So, you should ask yourself, how are you going to attract visitors to your website, and how are you going to stand out from the rest of the people who have already signed before you?

At the same time, in late 2018, Peekaboo announced that they have launched a new Social Retailer program, with the aim of diversifying distribution channels and increase sales.

What this means for you as an individual is that you can take advantage of this program as a blogger and influencer and build your own website around the Peekaboo brand to sell it and make money, or leverage social media channels like Facebook, Instagram, and others.

Is Peekaboo Beans Legitimate?

Given the fact that Peekaboo is an MLM, it inevitably raises the question if Peekaboo is a legitimate business or a pyramid scheme?

Peekaboo is definitely a legitimate business as they have real products people need and want to buy.

The main focus is on selling the products, while the recruitment aspect is only additional and optional, and not the main source of income at Peekaboo.

How Much Money Can You Make With Peekaboo Beans?

Like the Compensation plan, there’s no Income Disclosure Statement that would clearly show how much money Peekaboo Stylists are making on every level.

The only information I’ve found is a general $838 per month.

That’s not bad and could supplement your main income.

But for sure, you couldn’t rely solely on this amount of money to support all your needs, not to mention, your dreams.

The Good and The Bad

PROs

#1. No Minimum Purchases or Monthly Quotas

A lot of MLM companies require their sales representatives to buy the products on a monthly basis, regardless of the fact if you need those products or not.

Well, that’s not the case of Peekaboo Beans though.

#2. High-Quality Products

Peekabo creates high-quality, sustainable products meant to last through multiple children.

Peekaboo Beans clothes are safe from harmful chemicals which is very important especially when it comes to kidswear.

There are no heavy metals that can be absorbed by the skin.

#3. Free Shipping

Your customers have the possibility to benefit from free shipping on all of their product orders, so they don’t have to worry about paying extra costs when checking out.

CONs

#1. No Downloadable Copy of The Compensation Plan

I don’t know whether it’s just my experience, or this document exists at all? But I wasn’t able to find any file or video explaining their compensation plan in detail.

This is a business, and it should be treated as such.

If I wanted to start a business with Peekaboo Beans, I would, at least, need a copy of the compensation plan, which I could print and have at my fingertips whenever I want to consult it.

All I have found regarding the compensation plan is that it is “generous”.

If you come across this document, please link it in the comments section of this post down below.

#2. No Income Disclosure Statement

There is no information publicly available regarding how much money Peekaboo Beans Stylists are making on average, on every level or rank.

There’s only general information that active Stylists are making around $800 per month.

Honestly, that looks kind of foggy to me.

I think that in order to be able to earn more, you’d need to sell more and to recruit more people – the two things people generally don’t enjoy doing.

#3. High Start-up Costs

The starter kits are quite not cheap. The cheaper the starter kit, the fewer products you receive in it.

If you want a kit with more pieces, you’d need to spend more money out of your pocket. And that’s before you even earn any money at all.

They make the choice of starter kits a thing that is kind of up to you but if you do product demonstrations, you’ll need as many items as possible, otherwise, how are you going to sell those products?

My Final Opinion About Peekaboo Beans + A Better Alternative

Peekabo is a company that is working a lot towards leveraging technology to getting its products in the hands of more mothers and offering multiple ways for people to shop.

The direct sales model they have started with is about hosting parties that are getting a little bit stale already.

So, I find Peekaboo is standing out a little bit from the rest of MLMs by giving its reps the possibility to build their business in the way that’s most convenient for them: in person at your pop-up shows, on social media, or through your website.

At the same time, the lack of a structured compensation plan and an Income Disclosure Statement makes me hesitant about this business opportunity (these two might be missing because Peekaboo kind of shifted from the MLM business model to the omnichannel business model in October last year).

After reviewing a lot of MLMs here on my blog, I have learned that the success rate in the MLM industry is so low.

So, I don’t think that it will be any different for you and me in terms of income generation.

It might be a good part-time opportunity but if you are looking for something that would let you earn a full-time income, I’m afraid that Peekaboo is not the best business opportunity.

If you are looking to make a full-time income, I would suggest looking into blogging and affiliate marketing.

In this business model, you are not limited to promoting only one brand or one type of product. The opportunities are endless here.

This is what I do and I have created this website to help you learn to do the same.

If you are new to this business model, don’t worry as there’s an awesome affiliate marketing training program that you can start TODAY for FREE!

No credit card is required and if you find that this is not for you, you can cancel anytime, no questions asked.

But I’m sure you are going to love it!

Inside, you’ll find a lot of marketing tools that were designed to help you succeed: a keyword research tool, 24/7 support from super-affiliates, and uber-experienced people in this industry, an affiliate programs research tool, and even website hosting is included.

  1. Great review of Peekaboo Beans.

I never knew if this business existed until today! But after reading your post I learned so much about the Peekaboo brand and how they operate.

To be honest, I am not that keen on their high start-up costs. That’s why I prefer the Wealthy Affiliate. I am really grateful to be part of this amazing community that helps you succeed in the online business world.

Thanks for the review and best wishes.

  2. Hi Natalie,

Thank you for this in-depth review.

I am not a fan of Tupperware party-style selling.

I would need to do the blogging/influencer style of selling and recruiting.

The price point for the start-up doesn’t sound too high for me. I have seen many other MLMs with required monthly purchases and a $2,500 start-up cost.

This sounds interesting, but your opinion matters to me, so I am going to pass if it is offered to me in the future.

    Thanks
