What Is a Keyword?

Before we dive into the subject itself, let me first explain what is actually a keyword.

In simple words, a keyword is a word or phrase that people type in Google when they want to search for stuff online or they are searching for a solution to their problem.

Here is a quick example:

When you type in a word or phrase like that, Google will give you 10 instant results of what people are searching and that is related to the word or phrase that you have used.

All these results you can further use for creating your own content for your website.

Why Keywords are So Much Important? How to Find Keywords for a Website? - Keywords Importance

From here, you may ask yourself, why should I pay so much attention to keywords?

Couldn’t I just write my content naturally without paying attention to these keywords?

Well, the answer is YES, but… and let me explain it in little more detail.

Of course, you can write your content without relying that much on keyword research, but in this case, you should have a very good understanding of your target audience/niche and what are their needs and problems.

So that you can come up with some good recommendations that will actually solve their problems and issues.

I actually know a few experienced marketers that apply this strategy to their content, but I also know that even well-versed affiliate marketers do the keyword research.

Researching and knowing your audience may take some time and before getting there, it’s recommended to have very good selected keywords that will help you get better rankings in Google and other search engines.

This is your number one goal with your website, right?

What is the point of having a website that is positioned somewhere on the 10th page of Google, where nobody ever gets to read your content?

You want your website to be on the first page of Google search and having very good selected keywords will help you achieve that.

How To Select Good Keywords For Your Website?

So, if you are going to focus on keywords research in the first place, chances are you will have a winning advantage in comparison with your online competitors.

How can you find and select keywords for your website? It is pretty simple and I will further explain to you how you can do this.

First of all, you have to know that there are some specific criteria to follow in order to find and select good keywords for your website.

Let’s have a look at these criteria:

  1. Avg (Average) – this is the average number of searches that the keyword receives per month. The bigger the average number is, the better. This means that the bigger this number is, the more visitors you will get to your website.  Ideally, if your website is brand new, look for this number to be over 100.
  2. Traffic – the number of visits to your website that you will get if you achieve first page rankings in the Search Engines.
  3. QSR (Quoted Search Results) – the number of competing websites ranked in Google for this exact keyword. This number actually shows you your competition. Again, if your website is quite new, you don’t want to choose very competitive keywords, because you will simply not get ranked in Google. Pick keywords that show under 100 QSR. When your website will get more established, you will be able to pick keywords that are more than 100 QSR.
  4. A Good Keyword Must Make Sense. When you are selecting your keywords, always remember that there are real people on the other side that are typing in those keywords. So they would likely use something that would make sense, rather than not.
  5. SEO score – is a score based on traffic and competition, the higher the score, the more likely you will rank for this keyword on the first page (score is of 1-100, higher=better).

While all these criteria are important in the process of selection of a good keyword, you will need to focus more on Average, QSR, and the good sense of a keyword.

Here is an example of keyword research for the keyword phrase: how to find keywords for your website?

As you can see, the Average indicator for this keyword phrase is 152, and QSR or competition is 42.

This is a great keyword and if you can write high-quality content (article/blog post), there are big chances to rank very well in the search engines with this keyword phrase.

If you want to have a successful website of your own that generates your income, I highly recommend you to always write your own content and never ever copy and paste content from other websites.

It is not good to stole other people’s work, and if you do so, it will bring you nowhere anyway, so it’s not even worth spending your time doing this.

Google and other search engine algorithms are so smart nowadays that your plagiarized work will be found and you will end up punished by Google, which is, I am sure, the last thing you want!

If you don’t know how to efficiently architect your content, I would suggest you a great learning platform that has taught me everything I know today about writing content, Google and other search engine rankings, and many other things needed to run a successful affiliate website.

I have been using this amazing platform since March 2019 and I been able to learn A LOT and I am still learning.

If you don’t know how to make money online through an affiliate website, let me tell you in brief that this could be done through a business model called affiliate marketing

I can see that a lot of people overthink it and consider it too difficult to do, but in essence, this is not true, when you have a step-by-step system in place to apply and start earning an honest and decent income online.

Where To Use The Selected Keywords Within Your Content?

Knowing how to properly use keywords within your content can help you a lot in your endeavors to achieve high rankings in the search engines.

Google doesn’t like to see stuffing keywords all throughout the content. If you do so, you are not going to receive good Google rankings.

So, how do you know how to properly use keywords in your articles in order to gain Google’s love?

There is a simple rule for that and if you are going to apply it within your website, you will rank well in Google and other search engines, like Bing and Yahoo.

First of all, you will want to insert your keyword or phrase in the title of your article, in the first paragraph of your article and then just write your article in the most natural way.

Second, when you are done writing your content, place your keyword or phrase somewhere in the last paragraph of your article.
